What is Youth Mentoring?
Youth mentoring is about giving young people a safe, supportive space to talk, be listened to, and feel understood.
A mentor is an adult who is there just for you. They won’t judge you, tell you what to do, or expect you to have everything figured out.
Their role is to listen, support you, and help you build confidence as you navigate whatever life is throwing your way.
Mentoring is one-to-one and centred around you... Your experiences, your feelings, and what matters to you.
How does youth mentoring work?
-
You’re matched with a trained mentor.
-
You meet regularly in a safe, agreed setting.
-
Sessions are a chance to talk, reflect, and feel supported.
-
Your mentor helps you build confidence, coping skills, and self-belief.
-
You’re supported by the wider Northorpe team throughout.
Young people’s safety and wellbeing always come first.
All mentors are trained and supported by Northorpe, and clear boundaries are in place to make sure mentoring is a positive and safe experience.
