Help us support young people

Volunteering with Northorpe is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and families across West Yorkshire.

Whether you want to support emotional wellbeing, help at events, or use your skills in other ways, there’s a role for you — and you don’t need prior experience to get started, just a willingness and commitment to transform young lives!

And volunteering with Northorpe isn’t just about helping others, it’s also a chance to:

  • Develop new skills and confidence.

  • Be part of a supportive team.

  • Make friendships and connections.

  • Gain valuable experience.

  • See the difference your time makes in real lives.

Whatever role you take on, you’ll be valued, supported, and part of something meaningful.

Mentoring and Emotional Wellbeing Support

One of our most meaningful and impactful volunteering opportunities is mentoring.

As a mentor, you’ll be trained and supported by Northorpe to work one‑to‑one with young people aged 10–19. Mentors help young people feel heard, build confidence, and navigate life’s challenges. You don’t need special qualifications — just empathy, patience, and a willingness to listen.

We also offer roles supporting emotional wellbeing alongside families and young people. This work is rewarding and backed by ongoing training and supervision so you feel confident and supported in your role.

Other Ways to Get Involved

While mentoring is a core focus, there are lots of other ways to volunteer depending on your interests and skills.

You could be:

  • Helping at fundraising events, like our annual Christmas fundraiser or Wellbeing Festival.

  • Supporting practical tasks like maintaining outdoor spaces or helping with admin, communications, or projects.

  • Using your professional skills to help build websites, produce materials, or support community‑facing activity.

Whatever your background, we provide training, support, and supervision, pay out‑of‑pocket expenses, and make sure everyone feels part of a caring and collaborative team.
