About Northorpe

We’re a West Yorkshire-based charity, supporting children, young people, and families for over 60 years.

Our services include mentoring, therapies and tailored programmes for young people up to aged 25, supporting both them and the network around them on their journey towards independence.

We provide neurodivergent young people and their families with specialist support that nurtures potential, builds confidence, and helps them navigate day-to-day life.

You can view a full list of our services here.

Our Mission

At Northorpe, our goal is simple:

To help neurodivergent children and young people overcome the challenges they face, and have the best chance to grow, learn, and thrive - no matter what life throws at them.

We do that by:

  • Transforming Young Lives: Supporting children, young people and families who face difficulties or disadvantage.

  • Creating Opportunities: Providing high-quality services that meet the real needs of the children, young people and families we work with.

  • Giving Them a Voice: Making sure the views of children, young people and families are heard by the adults who can make a real difference.

And we achieve that through our:

  • Team of experienced and dedicated staff and volunteers.

  • Proven programmes supporting wellbeing, confidence, and resilience.

  • Focus on children and families facing challenges or disadvantage.

  • Inclusive and collaborative approach with schools and communities.

Our vision is a world where all young people have good mental health most of the time, and the support and relationships they need to recover quickly when they face challenges.

Our Charity

Although we work closely with other services and organisations, we are an independent charity and rely on support from our community to help us continue our work.

This includes funding, fundraising and donations, which help make sure our services remain sustainable and accessible to all who may need them.

If you would like to find out more about how you can support our work, visit our Get Involved page.

Our Location

Northorpe Hall is our home, and we’re proud to have such a welcoming and flexible space. Situated within stunning grounds, the Hall offers a range of different rooms and spaces, with free on-site parking and areas suitable for everything from one-to-one sessions and therapy to creative activities and group work. Having a choice of spaces means we can create the right environment for different needs and activities.

But our support doesn’t have to happen at the Hall. Our sessions take place in lots of different places across the local area, because we’re committed to adapting the way we work around the young people and families we support. If someone feels more comfortable meeting at school, in a coffee shop, at home or somewhere else, we’ll work with them to find a place that feels right.

Our Team

Behind everything we do is a team of people who care deeply about making a difference to the lives of young people and their families. We bring different skills, experience and perspectives, but we share a belief in the importance of what we do and the people we support.

Our team works together to create support that is thoughtful, flexible and shaped around the needs of each young person and family.

Our Policies

Our policies cover safeguarding, social media, privacy, complaints, equality and inclusion, health and safety, and other areas that help us provide safe, respectful and effective support for children, young people and families.

Our Commissioned Services

We work with schools, organisations and other local services to provide tailored support that meets the needs of the children, young people and families they serve.

Our commissioned work draws on our experience in emotional wellbeing, mental health, neurodiversity and inclusion. This can include case consultations, guidance, staff training and other specialist support, helping organisations build confidence, develop effective approaches and create more inclusive environments.

We work collaboratively with each organisation to understand their needs and provide practical, evidence-informed support that can make a lasting difference.
