Christmas @ Northorpe: Celebrate, Have Fun + Make a Difference

Christmas is coming to Northorpe, and this year there are lots of ways to get involved.

Whether you fancy celebrating with friends, family or colleagues, bringing the family along for some festive fun, or helping make Christmas a little brighter for a young person, there's something for everyone.

Whatever you choose, you'll be helping support our work with children, young people and families across West Yorkshire.

Celebrate + Support: Christmas Celebration Event

If you're yet to get your festive celebrations sorted, we've got you covered! This year, we're opening our beautiful Northorpe Barn for a brand-new Christmas event for our community to enjoy.

This Christmas, we're planning something a little different: a relaxed, informal celebration focused on having fun and enjoying time together. Think great food and drinks, plenty of chat, dancing, laughter and good company. It's all about having a memorable evening, celebrating Christmas, letting your hair down and having a great time together.

Food will be served street-food style, with our Christmas Dinner in a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap, alongside a fully stocked bar. There'll be a DJ throughout the evening and a live saxophonist adding a live twist to the music you already know and love.

Most importantly, all profits from the event will support our work with children, young people and families across West Yorkshire. So, you can celebrate with your colleagues, friends or family while having a great time and supporting an amazing local cause.

Tickets are just £45 per person, with no minimum booking size for groups.

Family + Fun: Festive Fayre

Our Festive Fayre is another chance to come together, but this time it's all about families having fun and getting into the Christmas spirit, while supporting a great local cause.

Last year's Fayre was a wonderful celebration, with the Barn buzzing with festive cheer, families enjoying a fun-filled day and fantastic local businesses showcasing their brilliant products and services.

This year, we're looking forward to bringing everyone together for another warm and welcoming Christmas celebration, packed with lovely stalls, games, Santa, festive activities and plenty of Christmas fun.

It's a completely free event, so bring the family, have a wander around the stalls, join in with the activities and make a day of it. There'll also be lots of ways to support Northorpe, with all money raised from the event going towards our work with children, young people and families.

Donate + Change Lives: Holiday Hamper Appeal

This year marks the 11th year of our Christmas Hamper Appeal, and for the second year running, we're teaming up with the local care leavers service at Kirklees Council to support young people spending their first Christmas living independently.

Last year, thanks to the incredible support from our community, we were able to provide two gift boxes for every young person we were supporting. We were so proud of what we achieved together, and of the difference those hampers made at what can be a difficult and emotional time.

One of the young people we supported was Josh, who shared his story with the BBC. Josh was in the care system from the age of about five and spoke about how important it was to know that someone “had his back”. He described the support charities provide as a potential “lifeline”:

“It's the difference between worrying and being able to say to yourself you're going to be all right.”

We'd love to build on last year's appeal and make Christmas a little brighter for even more young people this year, and there are lots of ways you can help, including through donations and volunteering.

Our donation week will run from Monday 16th – Friday 20th November, when The Stables at Northorpe Hall will become our Hamper HQ, as we bring donations together and sort and pack the hampers ready for Christmas.

We're really looking forward to bringing all three parts of Christmas @ Northorpe to life this year, and we couldn't do it without the support of our community.
