Holiday Hamper Appeal: Help make Christmas special for care leavers

This Christmas, we’re proud to be once again supporting young people who have left care and are spending their first Christmas living independently.

For our 11th Holiday Hamper Appeal, we’re working with Kirklees Council’s care leavers service for the second year, with a goal of providing two gift boxes for every young person who has left care this year.

One box will focus on wellbeing, with everyday essentials and little comforts to help them look after themselves. The second will be filled with festive treats to make Christmas feel that bit more special.

Last year, the generosity of our community helped us provide two 'amazing' gift boxes for every young person we supported.

We’d love to do the same again this year, and we need your help!

What can you donate?

We’re collecting items for both boxes. If you’re planning a shopping trip, here are some ideas to look out for:

💙 Wellbeing box

Small everyday essentials and comforting treats can make a real difference when you’re setting up home and living independently.

• Shower gel or bubble bath

• Body spray

• Fluffy socks

• Candles or diffusers

• Hand cream, lip balm, hand masks or foot masks

🎄 Festive treats box

Christmas treats and little seasonal touches to help make the festive period feel special.

• Chocolate bars, chocolate oranges, Maltesers, After Eights or mint thins

• Packets, boxes or tins of biscuits

• Hot chocolate sachets in different flavours and/or marshmallows

• Savoury crackers or panettone

• Christmas or winter-themed mugs

How to donate

You can drop off donations at reception at Northorpe Hall, between Monday 26th October and Wednesday 20th November. Pop by during our opening hours and speak to a member of our team who will be happy to help.

If you’re unable to donate in person, we’ve also set up an Amazon Wishlist to make it easier to support the appeal online. You can choose one or two items to donate, or select ‘Add all to basket’ in the top right-hand corner to donate the full contents for a hamper.

Help us get the hampers ready

Our donation collections begin on Monday 26th October, with The Stables at Northorpe Hall becoming our Hamper HQ as we bring everything together and sort and pack the gift boxes ready for Christmas.

We welcome individuals or teams who would like to volunteer to help pack the hampers. Packing will take place from Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th November.
