Some roles don’t just train you — they change the way you see children, families, and the small moments where real support begins.
At Northorpe Hall Child + Family Trust, we’re opening the door to something truly developmental: a pathway role that blends learning, practice, and purpose from day one.

A training role with real impact
We’re looking for 2 Trainee Children & Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioners in Kirklees — fixed term, full time roles with the intention to become permanent (subject to funding), following successful completion of a 12-month training programme and demonstration of high-quality practice.
From the beginning, you’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering low intensity, evidence-based interventions to children, young people, and their parents/carers experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, and behavioural difficulties.
This is hands-on learning in real settings — not just theory on a page.
Where you’ll work (and grow)
You’ll be based at Northorpe Hall Child + Family Trust in Mirfield, supported closely through clinical supervision, training, and team collaboration.
Your work won’t stay in one place either — you may also spend time in:
Schools
Community venues
Local partner settings
You’ll be supported with everything you need to do the job well: client access, IT equipment, secure systems, and strong peer support.
“The energy I get from working here is knowing the opportunities Northorpe gives to everyone. Not just the young people we support, but the people who work here too.”
Training pathway
Your formal training will be delivered through the Greater Manchester Psychological Therapies Training Centre Greater Manchester Psychological Therapies Training Centre.
This is a Postgraduate Certificate (60 credit, M-level programme) validated in partnership with the University of Manchester University of Manchester.
Training includes:
A 12-month blended programme (remote + in-person delivery)
2 taught days per week plus self-directed study
Learning alongside real-world supervised practice in services
Development across multiple mental health and community settings
Successful completion equips you to work as a qualified CYPWP — an autonomous practitioner within your scope of practice, delivering early interventions that make a meaningful difference.
